Community engagement & advocacy.

In addition to being passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in higher education, I am also passionate about learning from community members and supporting local organizers. Through the Racial Justice Alliance I have had the opportunity to support local organizations and K-12 educators and through the Communication and Identity Lab I have built a relationship with Parenting Across Color Lines, a support group in partnership with the Nebraska Foster and Adoptive Association that strives to build relationships among parents, teens and adult adoptees to support and strengthen racial identity.

There are so many community organizations that do great work for racial equity. My current favorite is Art Bus LNK, an organization that brings the power of art to lower-income and majority-minority communities in Lincoln, NE.
